Challenge

Tropical Bliss wanted to change the game when it came to Smoke Shop products. They had invested 6 figures into creating their new proprietary blend and wanted to really showcase that with their brand. Not just another smoke shop product but the "Trader Joes" of product. Packaging and branding to reflect the time and care they put into their product creation. This was a unique problem because all buyer psychology suggested that most of the market wasn't ready to move away from flashy, holographic design and large eye catching "similarity design" to other products. Our job was to take a product that used to be only in the "hidden" section of houses and design something that you could leave on your counter and nobody would know the difference.

Goal

The goal was to bridge the gap between what has been, for decades, the design style and packaging of these style of products and the new aged style of what successful products look like on shelves today. The stigma around these products is such that a large portion of the demographic would never try them, even though all the research coming out has peaked their interest, simply because they look like everything bad they've heard. We wanted to capitalize on the new attention, and the multitude of research projects being completed, to deliver a brand that anyone can look at and realize it's "Not Your Grandpas Shrooms".

Solution

It took nearly a year to finally lock down a solidified brand voice but in April 2025 we had done it. We designed a logo and packaging that stood out above the crowd and the final step was a booth design for the trade show that spoke to that branding. What we delivered to Tropical Bliss was a brand that garnered attention, spoke to shop owners because of the difference in design and left the expo with the 2025 Alt Pro Expo Best Mushroom award. To date, Tropical Bliss is one of the fastest selling Mushroom Products on the east coast, being carried in more than 50 stores across the coast, and every store is initially willing to have a conversation because their brand voice stands out among the crowd.
